Academy News by Julio, Aurora Central High School, Class of 2020

Hello, my name Is Julio and I am a freshman in the Academy Program at Aurora Central High School. I joined the BHGH Academy program in December of 2016. This decision has been one of the hardest and best decisions I’ve made in my life. I’m learning many skills. For example, BHGH is teaching me to be responsible not just inside the program but also outside of the program.  I am learning how to be more independent with my life. I really enjoy BHGH because I get the opportunity to work with other people. Recently I had the opportunity to work with the community for the Boys Hope Girls Hope National Day of Service to clean the Platte River. I worked with amazing people I didn’t know beforehand. Also this program motivates me to have the best grades I can.  Since I joined the program I have had a 3.6 GPA or higher. I am motivated by the staff members to always keep my grades up and be a good student. This program has changed my life in many ways, because I am pushed to do my best which I really appreciate.  I feel like they really believe in me and want me to be successful, which is one of the reasons I really enjoy being in this program.

Moving forward in the Academy, I hope I can continue getting all the support that BHGH gives me because it really keeps me motivated to always be a good person and a good student. I hope I can graduate from high school and become the first one in my family to go to college and make my parents dream come true, because it’s my ultimate goal.  I am really grateful that I get the opportunity to be part of this amazing program. I am sure if I wasn’t in this program I would not be as motivated to be a good student, have good grades nor have the dream to go to college.
