Around the House

Once upon a time there was a house full of boys and a house full of girls.  What happens in a full house?  Exactly what you think would happen.  Days are filled with laughter, pounding footsteps, and secret midnight visits to the refrigerator.  Dinner time is a time of happiness and a sharing of the days trials and triumphs.  Everyone loves trying new recipes such as pesto and other Italian cuisine.  They help peel potatoes, cut carrots, and even chop onions.  Evenings are spent diligently studying for a brighter future, led by our new Americorps member, Miranda.  She came all the way from Georgia to help our scholars prepare for college and study hard.

The scholars continue their community service with Bessies’ Hope, wildlife reserves and the Rotary Club.  The Boys Hope Girls Hope Recommitment Ceremony was held on August 26th at the Girls Hope home.  Each scholar was surrounded by family, friends and mentors who couldn’t have been more proud. The boys and girls also met with members of the Young Professional’s Board during a barbeque on August 29th.  They learned a lot about each other and even found that they had many similarities with the professionals they aspire to be one day.  A few of the Young Professionals went to Regis Jesuit High School and found that they like the same activities and hobbies that the kids like.
