Around the House

November brought many reasons to be thankful for the scholars of Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado.  The scholars opened up about these many reasons during a Thanksgiving celebration that was held recently at the Girls Hope home.  Thankfulness varied from family and friends to sports and afterschool activities.  However, they were all thankful for Boys Hope Girls Hope and those who are friends of the program and give their time, energy, or money to help them succeed in life.  Without the support of many community members, they realize they would not be here.  Thank you to those who have helped out Boys Hope Girls Hope over the years to make it the successful program it is today!  Click here to watch the Thanksgiving video.thanksgiving

Jorge and Luis participated in the Regis Jesuit performance of “The King and I” on November 10th at the Colorado Heights University.  Jorge was a member of the musical ensemble that brought the music to life.  Luis was part of the technical crew making everything run as smooth as possible.  They had a blast participating in the play.

Some of the scholars had a chance to check out our Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center.  Ahmarri, Elias, and Jocelyn took in two separate games in the same week.  The boys actually saw the game from some upper suites!  It was an exciting experience for both of them.

All of the scholars are busy at their respective studies and are heading into finals.  We have a detailed schedule to help deliver the best possible tutoring and help to them during this time.

Yovanna participated in the YMCA’s Youth in Government last week.  For three days she was given the opportunity to experience a mock legislative session where students authored their own legislation and went through the process of debating, amending and ratifying new laws.  She was recognized as “Outstanding Lawyer” by her peers.  She loved the experience and it helped confirm that she wants to be a lawyer some day.

Thank you for making these and all the other opportunities possible for our scholars!
