At the houses we had two Thanksgiving celebrations. The Sunday before Thanksgiving we had dinner at Boys Hope with all scholars and staff. We carried a table up from the basement so we could all squeeze in the kitchen. It is always fun to have our whole “BHGH family” together and celebrate the holidays. A special shout out to Andres for helping the staff cook! A few days later we had a dessert party. All the scholars’ families, as well as their mentors, were invited. The scholars had spent the previous week reflecting on what they are thankful for and they shared a few of these at the party.
Thank you to Circle of Hope, as well as all the other volunteers, that donated their time to make us homemade treats for our Thanksgiving celebrations! We appreciate all that you do for us!
Our community service this past month was with Bessie’s Hope, a program that pairs youth with elders for volunteer projects. It is a program we have helped out with before and one we hope to continue with long-term. This month we helped out with their bowling fundraiser. The scholars spent the afternoon helping the elderly bowl and got to do some bowling themselves. Darwyn got an award for bowling the highest score in his age group!
Welcome to our newest Boys Hope scholar, Casson! Casson is in 8th grade and he started at St. Therese this week. He is very excited to move in, and Adan and Ahmarri are happy to have another middle school scholar at the house!
