Collegian Freshman Nelly Catches Us up on Her First Weeks at UNC Greeley

Hi there! My name is Nelly and I am a freshman at the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley.  College life is difficult, but exciting at the same time.  Having such a wide range of class options has given me the opportunity to learn what I want to learn and do what I’ve dreamed of doing since I was a 3-year-old playing video games for the first time.  That is studying Software Engineering.  Much to my surprise I felt I had an easier time adjusting than most people I’ve met. That is due to the fact I was able to get a chance to see what living in the dorms was like and how schedules worked in high school.  This really helped me get my toes wet before diving in – all thanks to Boys Hope Girls Hope.

So far my favorite moment in college would be working on programs for one of my classes with my friends.  It took all four or five of us to figure out one program.  When we did, it was nice to see all the excitement in our faces, as well as that grade on our assignment.  Another moment would be hanging out with friends on the weekend, just eating food and watching movies after a long week.  I’ve made some great friends so far and I’m excited to see where this adventure of college takes me.  Stay tuned!
