Meet Our Residential Counselor

My name is Becky Rost and I am a live-out Residential Counselor at both Boys Hope and Girls Hope.  I have been with the program for almost three years.  I started as an AmeriCorps volunteer here at the Boys Hope home, spent a year at Boys Hope of St. Louis, and have been back working at the Denver location since January.  When I started as a volunteer I had no plans to stay on as a hired staff.  As I learned more about the program and got to know the kids, it didn’t take long for me to decide that I wanted to stay with the program after my AmeriCorps year was finished.  It is hard to explain to someone what exactly the program is unless they come into the home.  It truly is a family-like structure.  I love my job because it is something different every day.  I love seeing the scholars grow and seeing them succeed.  I have met many amazing people through this program, including volunteers and other staff.  This month I will be moving to part-time when I begin nursing school.  I plan to stay involved with Boys Hope Girls Hope even after I am no longer a staff member.
