Meet the Team | Jimmy & Amy

With Christmas fast approaching and the new year just around the corner, I want to pause for a moment and give thanks to all the amazing staff, volunteers, donors, scholars and families who make up the Boys Hope Girls Hope Colorado community. We are truly blessed with the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of individuals. This fall we welcomed a couple of new staff members to our team including Amy Strickland, and Jimmy Ragan. Jimmy and Amy join a stellar team of Boys Hope Girls Hope staff and we are thrilled to have them on board. Now that we are getting into the swing of the school year, I thought I should take a moment to properly introduce you to Amy and Jimmy.

Amy Strickland is the program manager at Regis Jesuit High School where she spends every afternoon with the 15 Regis Jesuit Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars. Amy assists with homework, extra-curricular activities, acts as a coach and a liaison for scholars and their teachers, and hosts a family dinner for the students each weeknight. Amy joined Boys Hope Girls Hope from Bishop Machebeuf High School where she taught history, psychology, and lead the school’s Learning Strategies program. She has a master’s in teaching and has been in the classroom for close to 20 years. Amy holds a great love for her Regis Jesuit scholars and hopes to help guide them successfully through their high school experience as men and women for others by helping them understand that they each have unique gifts to share with the world and they are all capable and well equipped to achieve their goals.

As program manager at Aurora Central High School, Jimmy Ragan provides scholars with daily academic support and organizes college prep workshops and programming, college visits, and service field trips. Jimmy is available during school hours and after school for any scholar who requires support, homework help, counseling and mentoring. Prior to joining Boys Hope Girls Hope, Jimmy taught both kindergarten and fourth grade. Jimmy finds working with scholars and families quite rewarding and enjoys helping families and students navigate the education world and the resources that are available to them outside the classroom. Jimmy feels very connected to his group of scholars and appreciates the opportunity to share in their successes and supporting them through challenges they may face. He hopes his scholars graduate with the belief that they can follow their passions, and through hard work, achieve their goals.

Amy and Jimmy are wonderful additions to our team and suffice to say, we are very lucky to have them on board! Keep an eye on our social media channels as we’ll be profiling more of our amazing staff members over the coming weeks. I am looking forward to the remainder of our school year as we support our scholars through their own development into men and women for others.

Wishing you a safe and fun holiday season!
