On Saturday April 12th, the Boys Hope Girls Hope of Colorado scholars participated in the fifth annual Boys Hope Girls Hope National Day of Service, continuing our tradition of commitment to service. Over thirty of our scholars and staff flocked to Montbello Central Park in Denver to assist Denver Parks and Recreation in their spring gardening projects, while hundreds of fellow BHGH scholars around the country pitched in their efforts in their respective cities. Joined by AmeriCorps volunteers, BHGH scholars spent their Saturday morning working hard, mulching trees, picking up trash, and beautifying a busy Denver park. The event marked the first intermingling of all of our residential and academy scholars, and demonstrated the immense impact that our growing group of young, bright students has the ability to make. The students, who come from Regis Jesuit High School, Grandview High School, Aurora Central High School and Liberty Middle School, banded together to make a tangible difference in the Denver community and exhibit the core values of the Boys Hope Girls Hope pillars through action. BHGH would like to thank Denver Parks and Recreation and those at the Boys Hope Girls Hope national office for their help putting on such a successful event.
