We gratefully acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our volunteers at Boys Hope Girls Hope Colorado.
Their dedication helps us in our mission of making a significant impact within our community.
Liz Abell
This month, we highlight the work of our Young Professionals Board Chair, Liz Abell. The Boys Hope Girls Hope Young Professionals Board is comprised of members in their 20’s and 30’s who are interested in networking and meting new people, but also to serve the community, our scholars, and collegians. Members organize and coordinate the Shaken, Not Stirred Martini Party held annually in February. They also work with our scholars like volunteering at our End of the Year Graduation Event held in May. Many speak at one of our monthly career panels to share their career journey as well as participate with service activities right along with our scholars.
What made you volunteer with Boys Hope Girls Hope?
I found out about the organization through VolunteerMatch. I then had the opportunity to meet scholars at the May End of Year Graduation Party and was completely committed to the organization and its mission after seeing it in action.
What has been the most memorable experience volunteering with Boys Hope Girls Hope?
It is inspiring to see how committed both the staff, board, and the YP Board members are to this work. Everyone wants the organization to succeed so the challenge seems small in comparison.
Why do you continue to support Boys Hope Girls Hope?
It just takes meeting one scholar and hearing the impact of this work, and you cannot forget it. If you are on the fence about getting involved, talk to a scholar. The stories and their commitment to their future is incredible.
