
High School Senior Opens Successful Business with Hopes for More!
Sammy is a senior at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora and a scholar through Boys Hope Girls Hope, a college readiness program helping first generation and low-income students thrive through high school, attend college and then launch into their first career. Boys Hope Girls Hope addresses the opportunity gap at-risk youth entering high school face through academic and personal support in a setting where all belong. “Boys Hope Girls Hope allowed me to expand on my courage and to become more of myself. They provided opportunities for me to really see things from an outside world perspective and helped me to stay on top of things regarding my future educational plans. They helped with college essay, the scholarship process, connecting me with writing coaches – all with guiding me through the process,” said Sammy.
Sammy has also participated in Boys Hope Girls Hope college access support, which provides college application support, college visits and tours, individualized assistance with college matching, scholarship applications and FAFSA completion and guidance to assure high school graduated arrive on college campus for their freshman year. “Boys Hope Girls Hope has been holding my hand when I didn’t know what to do. They gave me the tools and provided me with a plan after high school and have guided me to the next step in my journey,” she said. Her plan is to double degree in business administration and marketing and to open and own her own business that can provide new and innovative ways for the world.
She has already started down the path with her own start up nail salon, Nails_by_Sammyy . “I wouldn’t have done this without Boys Hope Girls Hope. Through BHGH I attended the Latina Business Style Series this past August at CU Denver and was nominated as the youngest entrepreneur with a business plan.”
Her early success is catapulting her dreams into reality. Sammy is currently a semi-finalist for a Daniels Scholarship as well as being awarded the Hispanic Youth Awards and the AXA achievement scholarship. She has also been accepted into Loyola Chicago, Regis University, San Pablo Spain and St. Louis University Madrid.
