“The people at BHGH have been the most memorable part of my experience. I’ve met an incredible group of individuals, including mentors, classmates, underclassmen, and of course, Program Manager, Amy. These people have always recognized my potential and encouraged me to give my best in every opportunity I’ve had. Because of them, so many doors have opened that would have remained closed without BHGH. I can’t wait to make BHGH and Amy proud as my journey continues at UMiami!”
-Athziri
Athziri is a senior at Regis Jesuit High School and a scholar with Boys Hope Girls Hope. “Boys Hope Girls Hope has been with me every step of the way. My mentors and the various development activities have helped me stay on top of my responsibilities, especially with college applications. The range of opportunities available has been one of the main reasons for my success and for achieving more than I ever thought possible,” Athziri shared.
Athziri has always aimed high! As a freshman, she aspired to attend the University of Miami but doubted it would become a reality due to factors like distance, tuition costs, and the increasingly competitive acceptance rates. This soon-to-be high school graduate is now on the brink of realizing her dream. “When I opened my decision letter and saw the word ‘Congratulations!’ I broke down in tears. It felt surreal. I was thrilled to achieve my dream,” she expressed.
Achieving this goal was no small task for Athziri. “The opportunities provided by Regis Jesuit and Boys Hope Girls Hope have been incredible. I’ve broadened my portfolio and deepened my understanding of the world through advanced academics and teachers who encouraged me to step beyond my limits. I’ve learned to embrace my background rather than allowing others to perceive me as inferior,” she explained.

Not only will Athziri attend the University of Miami, she has also secured a scholarship that covers her entire tuition, along with room and board! She plans to major in Sports Marketing and minor in Spanish, with aspirations in TV production and media. Thanks to the Boys Hope Girls Hope Program, we will witness Athziri’s growth during her college journey. Our Post-Secondary Program Manager will assist her in balancing her studies, activities, and navigating college life.
